Why Kofi Kingston Feels WWE Is In A Special Time

Kofi Kingston Feels Disrespected By WWE

Kofi Kingston is reflecting on the current WWE landscape and why he feels it’s a special time for the company.

It was in 2006 when Kofi Kingston signed a WWE developmental deal, and nearly 20 years later, The New Day legend is continuing to build on his future WWE Hall of Fame career.

As a former WWE Champion and a legendary tag team wrestler with The New Day, there isn’t much that Kofi Kingston can do that he hasn’t already done in a WWE ring, considering his decorated legacy.

At the WWE-AAA Worlds Collide event in Las Vegas on September 12th, Kofi and his New Day tag team partner, Xavier Woods, could leave the show with the AAA Tag Team Titles, which are a set of titles that they have never won. Kingston and Woods will challenge Psycho Clown & Pagano for the titles in what should be an entertaining match.

In an interview with The Battleground Podcast, Kofi Kingston spoke about how special it is to compete in WWE in this era.

“We are in such a special time right now. And I was just talking about this in another interview, how, you know, WWE has always been about expanding, right? And branching out into different areas. But I feel like in the past year and a half, two years, we have really just kind of sunk our teeth into anything and everything that we possibly can.

Bro, even like having advertisements in the ring — we should have been doing that, like a long time ago. The Slim Jim tables, the Prime station, you know what I mean. There’s just so many different ways of interacting, and we have just sunk our teeth into all of them. And I think it’s really, really cool.”

Kofi Kingston Is In Awe That He Is Competing For AAA Tag Team Titles

The WWE veteran Kingston continued talking about how the company is running shows internationally like never before, and how the fans deserve to see them in those countries.

“Not to mention all the international shows that we’ve had this year. We’ve had so many Premium Live Events overseas, Clash in Paris, Crown Jewel coming up in Australia.

It’s just wild to me, man — like how we can keep on pushing the boundaries. And I love it, man. It’s really cool. And especially like worldwide, we have such a rabid fan base throughout the entire world. And they also deserve to have shows brought to them. They deserve to see shows live. And we are doing our best to get all over the world and get in front of the people who are some of our biggest fans.”

Regarding the New Day’s AAA Tag Team Title opportunity, Kingston is surprised and excited about it.

“Like you were saying, the collaborations with different companies. With AAA, like, who would have ever thought? Getting to wrestle for the AAA Tag Team titles is going to be amazing at Worlds Collide.

I’m still kind of in like awe that it’s actually even happening. We have a chance to bring some more tag team gold to the New Day side.”
