Knocked Out AEW Star Suffers Serious Injury

A veteran AEW wrestler is set for a lengthy absence.

On the July 13th edition of AEW Collision, Dalton Castle was in a match against Roderick Strong with the winner becoming the number one contender for the ROH World Title.

The two veterans Strong and Castle went on to have a physical match that ended with a confusing finish because Castle was knocked out by a flying knee during the match. Thankfully for AEW, the show was taped so they were able to edit it.

While Castle getting knocked out was obviously a bad thing that happened, he also suffered a torn biceps that required surgery and will likely keep Castle out of the ring for the rest of the year. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer addressed what happened.

“Torn biceps that was the deal with the surgery and everything.”

What Happened During The Strong-Castle Match On AEW Collision?

Meltzer also talked about what happened with the flying knee that led to the confusing finish on AEW Collision in the Strong-Castle match.

“What happened was, it was a flying knee that knocked out Dalton Castle. He got knocked out. The referee counts one, two, held up the count because it wasn’t supposed to be the pin. Then counted three because Dalton Castle never moved and they didn’t show Dalton Castle, he was on the ground for several minutes. So, they didn’t show any of that.”

“You could see the edit. The edit was that the referee held up the count, Dalton didn’t kick out and the referee had to count the three because Dalton wasn’t getting up.”

“In the building, this was a complete mess and they were very lucky that this show was taped for this reason.”

TJRWrestling wishes Dalton Castle all the best as he recovers from surgery to repair the torn biceps injury that he suffered.
