Kevin Owens’ WWE Future Reportedly Revealed
Kevin Owens’ WWE future has been uncertain for months, but it appears that we now know that the former WWE Universal Champion will be staying put in WWE.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, the former NXT Champion has signed a new “multi-year” contract with WWE. The report also states WWE made an “excellent offer” to the Prizefighter in order to retain his services, and WWE sources said the company was “overjoyed” that Owens would be staying with them.
Another statement in the report confirms that many within AEW believed the company couldn’t realistically match what WWE would offer – but it was emphatically stated that was merely speculation on the part of individuals while Owens was still under contract.
Owens seemingly fueled the rumours of a potential future in AEW by putting Big E in the Walls of Jericho on WWE Raw a few weeks ago, ostensibly paying tribute to former partner turned adversary Chris Jericho, who became All Elite not long after the company’s inception.
According to Fightful, Owens’ contract was “restructured” in 2019 to expire at the end of January 2022, with WWE beginning the negotiation process with Owens in the autumn of 2021 – later than usual.
Kevin Owens’ participation in a Fatal 4-Way for the WWE Championship at WWE Day 1 on January 1st could well have begun the end of Owens’ WWE career but now it looks like Fight Owens Fight will fight on for some years to come.
