Kevin Owens returned the favour to his old friend Sami Zayn and saved the day at Elimination Chamber to the delight of the Montreal crowd.

Sami Zayn did the right thing at the Royal Rumble as he took the chair intended to finish off Kevin Owens and slammed it into the back of Roman Reigns to a raucous reception from the crowd.

Owens had not been seen since on WWE television but he picked his moment to make his return and help out Zayn after the hometown hero was cruelly defeated by Roman Reigns who retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

At Elimination Chamber, Sami Zayn got his hands on Roman Reigns as he challenged for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in his hometown to try and book his place in the WrestleMania 39 main event against Cody Rhodes.

Sami Zayn was carried through the match by the electric crowd as well as his wife who was sat at ringside and scored an excruciating near fall with a Helluva Kick and came even closer with a Blue Thunder Bomb after he side-stepped a Spear that saw Reigns go crashing through the ringside barrier.

Zayn would have had a three count on the champion but the referee was knocked out after being crushed in the corner by both stars. That gave Jimmy Uso his chance to interfere despite being told to stay away by Reigns but Sami Zayn survived his assault to continue the fight.

A second official was taken out which gave Paul Heyman the chance to hand Reigns a chair which brought out Jey Uso. Uso looked to stop his Tribal Chief from attacking Zayn and refused to hit Zayn with the chair himself before Zayn inadvertently took out Uso with a Spear meant for Reigns. Another Spear from Reigns was enough to flatten Zayn and the crowd.

That was until Kevin Owens returned to a raucous ovation to stop a further attack on Sami Zayn and he delivered Stunners to both Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso before he powerbombed Uso through the announce table. Owens then dropped Paul Heyman with a Stunner for good measure before he stepped aside and let Zayn take out Reigns with a Helluva Kick to send the crowd home happy.
