Kevin Owens Puts Himself Through Table At WWE Live Event (VIDEO)
It’s not that often when a wrestler willingly puts himself through a table to entertain WWE fans, but Kevin Owens did it at a live event!
Kevin Owens is on a run of a lifetime in WWE these days. For the second year in a row, Owens main evented night one of WrestleMania.
At WrestleMania 39 earlier this month, Kevin Owens & his best friend Sami Zayn challenged The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles in the main event of WrestleMania Saturday. The match was praised heavily by critics and fans that loved seeing Owens & Zayn beat The Usos to put an end to Jimmy & Jey’s 600+ day title reign.
Since then, Owens has continued to deal with The Usos and their brother Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline. It appears as though WWE is setting up a six-man tag team match with Owens, Zayn & Matt Riddle against The Usos & Solo at Backlash on May 6th, but that’s not official yet.
On Sunday, April 16th at a WWE live event in El Paso, Texas, Owens teamed up with Cody Rhodes & Matt Riddle in a six-man tag team match against Imperium’s GUNTHER (the Intercontinental Champion), Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci.
As you might expect as a WWE live event, the babyface trio of Owens, Rhodes and Riddle won the match. However, the show didn’t end there.
We all know WWE fans like table spots and often chant for tables during matches. They did it in El Paso too. The babyface trio of Rhodes, Riddle and Owens set up the table in the ring. That led to Owens doing a promo about how in the past he said some nasty things about Texas. That’s because, as Kevin said, Owens did it to try to get “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to be on the Kevin Owens Show at WrestleMania 38 last year. KO’s plan ended up working because Austin did come back and beat Owens in the main event of WrestleMania 38 Saturday.
As Owens told the fans in El Paso, they should be thanking him because Austin did come back. Owens would then go on to say since he said so many bad things, he wanted to make it up to the fans. That’s when Owens jumped back-first through the table!
Kevin Owens did a great job of selling the bump while his friends Rhodes & Riddle helped him back up to his feet. After the bump, Cody Rhodes also got Kevin Owens to sign a piece of the table, which Kevin gave to a fan. Check out the video below.
