Kevin Owens Throws Serious Doubt On His WWE Future
Kevin Owens pulled out of WrestleMania 41 owing to neck issues, and has been out ever since.
The Prizefighter was supposed to battle Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41 as an angle to develop his heel character, but right before The Show of Shows, he made the unfortunate announcement on SmackDown.
He is yet to undergo surgery for his neck, and only then will he be able to determine a healing period for the same.
Kevin Owens might not return to WWE at all
The Prizefighter spoke to Le10Sport about the timeline of his injury, and he revealed that it took a while to even figure out that his neck was in bad shape.
I had my doubts for several months that there was something really wrong. On the other hand, it took several months to diagnose the injury as such. But we found out two days before I made the announcement on SmackDown, that I couldn’t be at WrestleMania and that I had to stop wrestling immediately. In fact, I was extremely lucky not to be injured more seriously in the matches that I had at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber because my neck was already in very bad shape, but we didn’t know.
Following that, he revealed that he isn’t sure if he would absolutely return to the ring. Neck issues are rather serious, and can end careers if not looked into properly.
It would be, not arrogant, but wrong to be able to tell you right now that I’m absolutely going to get back in the ring, that I’m going to have more fights. I don’t know if that’s true.
Randy Orton issued an open challenge for WrestleMania 41 after Kevin Owens backed out, and TNA World Champion Joe Hendry answered it. The Viper secured the victory.
