Kevin Owens Compared To Stone Cold Steve Austin

One AEW figure believes Kevin Owens is very underrated.

At Money In The Bank, Kevin Owens will team with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton to take on a trio of stars from The Bloodline. It’s been reported this will include Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Solo Sikoa, with Jacob Fatu waiting a little longer to make his in-ring debut.

Owens is widely regarded as one of the most versatile performers in WWE, capable of playing a wide range of characters and having a good match with just about anyone.

On a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross moved to praise Owens, comparing him to WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin.

“I think Kevin Owens is very underrated. He’s got some Stone Cold (Steve Austin) qualities I think are important. Tough kid. Good dude. He’s not overwhelmed with chrome. He’s a smart guy. And I like Kevin Owens a lot.”

Ross went on to discuss Randy Orton, someone he shares a special affinity with having signed him to WWE more than two decades ago. JR said he expects Orton to turn heel in the coming months and challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

“And Randy is a staple. Randy has been around long enough now to where it’s hard for him to do things or not. That’s not surprising. He’s just consistent as hell, you know. I had to really talk long and hard to get Vince to sign him because he was dishonorably discharged from the Marines back in the day. So he’s had a wonderful career. And he’s made a lot of money, which I’m very happy for him.

[He’s] done a great job. So we’ll see. He’s a lifer there. WWE is lucky to have him because he can still go out and have that great match when he wants to. And I love his game. He’s over. And when you get somebody over, all you want to do is build on that. And I think they’re doing a nice job of not overexposing Randy.

I expect Randy to be a heel sooner than later and work with Cody (Rhodes). That’s just a guess. But to me, they would have great chemistry. And I would love to see that hot, personal issue because the matches themselves would be outstanding.”

Kevin Owens’ Son Begins Training

While Kevin Owens remains at the top of his game, the SmackDown star recently revealed his son has started training. Despite being just 16, Owens’s son stands at an impressive 6’8” and is keen to try his hand at the family business.

Owens said WWE represents the best possible place for him to begin training.
