WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has recalled the advice that he gave to AJ Styles ahead of The Phenomenal One’s WrestleMania debut.
AJ Styles burst into WWE in early 2016 when he debuted for the company in that year’s Royal Rumble match. Styles had built a name for himself over the years as part of TNA and latterly in New Japan Pro Wrestling where he captured the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice while leading Bullet Club.
It wasn’t long after his WWE debut that AJ Styles found himself embroiled in a situation with Chris Jericho. The two veterans exchanged victories and began teaming up as Y2AJ but that didn’t last long. Jericho soon turned on his partner, setting up a huge one-on-one match between the two men at WrestleMania 32.
Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash – a man no stranger to an appearance at WrestleMania detailed the words of wisdom he gave Styles before he graced The Grandest Stage Of Them All for the very first time:
“I said, ‘Cherish this because one day you’re going to be my age knowing that you’re never going to get out there again, and you’ll wish to God that you savored this moment that you have right now.”
Kevin Nash and AJ Styles first shared a ring together back at Turning Point in 2004 in TNA. On that occasion, Nash teamed with Scott Hall and Jeff Jarrett to take on the eclectic team of Styles, Jeff Hardy, and Randy Savage.
