Kevin Nash Compares Classic Bret Hart Match To AEW Bout

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has compared an all-time great AEW bout to one of his own classic matches with Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart.

Back in September 2021, the wrestling world was stunned when Bryan Danielson made his debut for AEW at the end of their All Out pay-per-view.

It wasn’t long before The American Dragon was in the AEW World Championship picture, challenging then-champion Hangman Adam Page for the gold at Winter Is Coming in December. That bout ended in a thirty-minute time limit draw in what was Page’s first title defence.

Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash discussed seeing that match and saw parallels with his own first televised WWE Championship defence against Bret Hart back at the Royal Rumble in 1995 – a match that also ended without a winner:

“So you know, I watched TBS because basketball’s on TNT and sh*t. And I see where they’re gonna have Bryan Danielson fight [Adam Page], so I am like, oh f*ck, man! Like they’re gonna go with this guy, that Bryan is gonna… then they went like, a draw.

“And I said oh, Royal Rumble! That f*cking match I had with Bret with 29 run-ins, it’s like, my first f*cking title defense is a f*cking draw? Like wow, wait to put the f*cking bank behind me. Buy 9 shares, f*ck you!”
