Kenny Omega’s NJPW Comeback Announced
Kenny Omega might be one step closer to returning to the ring as his return to NJPW has been announced.
Following the formation of AEW in early 2019, Kenny Omega left NJPW to join his partners in The Elite in Tony Khan’s upstart company. Bad blood flowed between NJPW and AEW in the early days meaning Omega was left out in the cold from the promotion where he made his name.
However, following a thaw in relations after a change in management in NJPW, Kenny Omega returned to the promotion in 2023, defeating Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Title at Wrestle Kingdom 17, only to lose it back to the Aerial Assassin at that yeat’s Forbidden Door.
Kenny Omega has been out of action since late 2023 as he battles a serious illness but his return to the ring has been teased in recent weeks by both NJPW and AEW as his former partners in The Elite sent him gruesome birthday wishes.
Kenny Omega Returning To NJPW At Power Struggle
Now Kenny Omega’s return to NJPW has been confirmed as the promotion announced that Omega will be a special guest at EDION Arena Osaka for Power Struggle on November 4th.
That show will see Zack Sabre Jr. defend his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Shingo Takagi while Hiroshi Tanahashi will team with Oleg Boltin to face the House of Torture’s EVIL and Ren Narita.
Oleg Boltin is a late replacement on that show for El Phantasmo who has revealed he is battling cancer and has taken an indefinite leave of absence from NJPW.
