Kenny Omega’s In-Ring Return Not Happening In AEW
AEW want Kenny Omega back but his in-ring return after a year out will be taking place in Japan as he clashes with a NJPW star.
Kenny Omega hasn’t wrestled since being diagnosed with diverticulitis in early December 2023, with his last match coming on December 5th. The former AEW World Champion had hoped to avoid surgery, but he eventually went under the knife in May after making two appearances on Dynamite.
At New Japan Pro Wrestling Power Struggle, Omega returned to the company where he made his name to express his desire to represent AEW against a young member of the NJPW roster at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th 2025 in the Tokyo Dome although nothing was set in stone at that time.
Kenny Omega ended up in a backstage altercation with Gabe Kidd at that show and since then, Omega has made clear that if Gabe Kidd wants to step up and face him at Wrestle Dynasty then he’d be ready and waiting.
And that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
Gabe Kidd Accepts Kenny Omega’s Challenge
NJPW announced that Gabe Kidd has accepted Omega’s challenge and the two men will now face off at Wrestle Dynasty at the Tokyo Dome on January 5th ending Omega’s year out of action.
The confirmation of that match comes as reports suggest AEW want Kenny Omega back in the company as soon as possible.
