Kenny Omega’s AEW Status Clarified By Dave Meltzer
Kenny Omega is one of the founding EVPs of AEW as well as a former World Champion of the company but is his long-term future with the company secured?
Kenny Omega could have a familiar foe at Forbidden Door in June as Hiroshi Tanahashi and Will Ospreay are both involved in a tournament to find a new number one contender for the IWGP US Championship but his longer-term future with the company remains up in the air.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer clarified Omega’s status after an interview with Konnan led to some confusion with some people thinking Omega had signed a new deal with AEW:
“Konnan did an interview and it got people thinking that Kenny Omega had signed a new contract.
Kenny Omega is under contract to AEW, his contract was extended because he was out for I think nine months due to injuries. I believe that he is under contract until around November/December. There is no new deal that’s been signed.”
Two men that have signed new deals with AEW are Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood of FTR who revealed just how long their new deals with AEW are and what their plans are once their new contract is up.
