Kenny Omega Wanted Back In AEW “As Soon As Possible”

Kenny Omega AEW

Kenny Omega remains a man in demand.

At NJPW Power Struggle, Kenny Omega cut an in-ring promo where he addressed his future, and a desire to return to the ring against one of the company’s young stars.

However, things took a turn when the star made his way backstage. He ended up in an altercation with Gabe Kidd, and a brawl ensued. Since then, the pair have been taking shots at each other in the media, and it seems the threats are more than just talk.

Kenny Omega has now said that if everything falls into place, he’ll wrestle Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty in January.

The entire storyline has surprised many fans and industry observers as it will likely end in one of AEW’s biggest stars making his in-ring return after more than a year out of action with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Tony Khan Addresses Kenny Omega Situation

Despite Omega seemingly on the verge of making his comeback in Japan, Tony Khan said he can’t wait to have the former World Champion back in an AEW ring. During the pre-Full Gear media call, Khan said Omega’s return would help his company a lot.

“I would love to have Kenny Omega back in AEW as soon as possible. He’s one of our greatest wrestlers ever. We work really closely with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. We’ll be collaborating with them on the Wrestle Dynasty event to make it a huge show, and very excited to get Kenny Omega back, hopefully very soon in AEW.

“It’s something that will help us a lot, and means a lot to us. And absolutely, if we can get Kenny Omega going as soon as possible I think it would be a great thing for us. I’m just excited that his health is better, and he sounds a lot better and looks so much better. And it will be a great thing for AEW to get Kenny Omega back here very soon. Thanks for asking.”

Omega hasn’t wrestled since getting the better of Ethan Page on the December 9th episode of Collision. He was diagnosed with diverticulitis shortly after the taping.

During the same call, Tony Khan also responded to speculation about the future of Toni Storm. 24 hours earlier, Storm claimed she was leaving AEW and professional wrestling behind following a series of damaging losses which included losing the Women’s Championship.
