Kenny Omega To Miss Major AEW Event
Kenny Omega is taking some time off.
In the main event of the September 3 edition of AEW Dynamite, “Hangman” Adam Page teamed with Kenny Omega and JetSpeed to take on The Young Bucks, Kyle Fletcher, and Josh Alexander.
When all was said and done, it was Fletcher and co that grabbed victory, but that was only part of the story. After the match, Fletcher and Alexander continued the assault on Page and Omega, with the Bucks brawling with JetSpeed.
This brought out Lance Archer and Rocky Romero, who joined the attack on Omega and Page. Once Page was taken out, Fletcher put Omega through a table at ringside with a Brainbuster. As the show went off the air, doctors were shown attending to Omega, who was holding his neck.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, the angle was a way of writing Omega off television for the next several weeks. As noted by Fightful, Omega’s break had been agreed for “quite a while” so that he can make a trip to Japan.
The closing angle on Dynamite was designed to “put over Fletcher,” as well as explain Omega’s absence which will see him miss All Out.
Report Claimed Kenny Omega Is Dealing With Serious Pain
The news comes after an earlier report claimed that Kenny Omega was “battling very serious pain.” However, as noted by Fightful, the former AEW World Champion isn’t taking time off due to a new injury.
However, Kenny Omega was quick to calm the nerves of concerned fans, telling everyone not to worry about him or his health.
Omega missed the entirety of 2024 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis and subsequently undergoing surgery. The star eventually resumed his career at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5 against Gabe Kidd.
