What Kenny Omega Has Planned In AEW After Huge In-Ring Return
Kenny Omega has a warning for the entire wrestling world.
At Wrestle Dynasty, Kenny Omega completed a remarkable return to the ring with a win over Gabe Kidd that left NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi in tears at ringside.
Omega hadn’t wrestled for 13 months after being diagnosed with diverticulitis but he quickly proved he’d lost nothing in the absence. The pair went to war for over half and hour and both men were a bloody mess by the final. In the end, it was Omega who got the win, but only after he’d been taken to the limit by his bitter rival.
The big return followed Kenny Omega coming face to face with Kazuchika Okada at Worlds End after the latter won the Continental Classic. Omega presented his long-time rival with the Continental Championship belt, sparking speculation they could meet in the ring soon.
Kenny Omega Wants The World And Everything In It
Following his victory over Kidd, AEW cameras caught up with Omega, and the interview was later posted on social media. While fans might be forgiven for thinking the star will ease himself back into All Elite life, it seems he’s got other ideas.
Omega warned that he’s on a mission to remind everyone why he’s the one true God of professional wrestling.
“You’re probably wondering after that, what’s next? ‘Kenny, you back?’ What do you think? Yeah, I’m back and if you’re wondering what’s next, it’s time to take back everything I lost. It’s time to rebuild. It’s time to prove what I’ve proven time and time and time again, not just this company, this entire business belongs to Kenny Omega.
When I come back to AEW, what’s next for Kenny Omega? It’s time to prove to the world once again that wrestling is Kenny Omega. AEW is Kenny Omega, whether you like it or not. People thought that I just disappeared off the face of the planet, that I haven’t been paying attention, I haven’t been watching. I watch everything and all I’ve seen are a lot of frauds and wannabes.
There is only one God of professional wrestling. In place of that God, there’s placeholders. There are flashes in the pans, there are flavors of the month, but there’s truly only one God, and he’s returning.”
Following Wrestle Dynasty, Dave Meltzer revealed that Kenny Omega was close to death before getting treatment for diverticulitis. The veteran journalist went on to praise the star’s performance given he’d been out of the ring for over a year with such a serious illness.
