Kenny Omega Shares Photo With Kazuchika Okada After Teaming Together For First Time
Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada appear to be on better terms now.
Okada and Omega made waves years ago for their scale-breaking quartet of singles matches in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. After winning the 2016 G1 Climax, Omega challenged then-IWGP Heavyweight Champion Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 11.
And although he lost, Dave Meltzer and many other fans hailed that match as quite possibly the best wrestling match ever.
Six months later at Dominion 2017, Omega challenged Okada again and the two went to a 60-minute draw.
Then two months after that during the 2017 G1 Climax, Omega beat Okada to even the score.
And then, almost a year later, Omega beat Okada at Dominion 2018 in a no-time limit two-out-of-three falls match to win the title he had been chasing for a year-and-a-half.
After that win, Okada never got a singles rematch against Omega. And prior to January 5th, the closest Okada came to facing Omega again was a tag match at Fighting Spirit Unleashed 2018.
And now, many years later, Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega were on the same side.
The main-event of New Year’s Dash saw Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada team together for the first time. The two of them defeated the United Empire duo of Jeff Cobb and Aaron Henare to close the show. After the show ended, Omega shared a photo of the two former arch-rivals on Twitter.
Both Omega and Okada were victorious at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4th. Omega beat Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Championship in the semi-main event and Okada beat Jay White to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in the show-closing match.
