Kenny Omega Hailed As Greatest In-Ring Performer Of All Time

Kenny Omega AEW

Kenny Omega’s influence is strong with the next generation.

After making his debut in 2001, it didn’t take long for Kenny Omega to establish himself as one of the most exciting wrestlers on the planet.

His long and storied career has seen him clash with the best the industry has to offer, famously going to war with the likes of Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, and more. Given his lengthy run at the top, it’s perhaps no surprise that Omega has had a big influence on those young stars following in his footsteps.

During an appearance on the CHGO podcast, Kyle Fletcher was asked about his influences, and the star named Jeff Hardy and Jushin “Thunder” Liger before giving special praise to Omega.

“Kenny Omega. He is someone that, he might be, in my books, the greatest in-ring performer of all-time. I still, to this day, will go back and watch his Tokyo Dome main event with Tanahashi. I’ll go back and watch his matches with (Kazuchika) Okada, his matches with (Tomohiro) Ishii. I’m in awe, and every single time, I’m like, ‘Ah man.’ I’m gobsmacked. Kenny, to this day, is the one I can go back and watch and always enjoy.”

Kenny Omega Takes Shot At CM Punk

On November 4th. Kenny Omega made his return to NJPW at Power Struggle, hinting for the first time that a return to the ring could be around the corner. The AEW star talked up the company’s young talent and said he’d love to test himself against one of those stars at Wrestle Dynasty in January.

However, once backstage, Omega was attacked by Gabe Kidd. Speaking in an interview after the event, Omega compared Kidd to CM Punk claiming he’s unfit to be a professional.

Omega hasn’t wrestled since beating Ethan Page in early December 2023 on Collision. Shortly after the taping, he was diagnosed with diverticulitis.
