Kenny Omega Captures Another AEW Championship
There is a new champion in AEW as Kenny Omega won big at Revolution and now faces a huge summer ahead of him.
At AEW Grand Slam Australia, the rivalry between Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay and the Don Callis Family continued with the pair grabbing a win over Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita. After the match, Omega set his sights on Takeshita’s International Title while Will Ospreay called out Fletcher for a Steel Cage Match at Revolution on March 9.
The AEW International Title picture wasn’t a straightforward one however as a series took place with Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong getting the chance to challenge Takeshita before Ospreay. Cassidy picked up the victory which led to him challenging for the gold but Takeshita retained moving on to face Omega at Revolution.
Kenny Omega Wins Fourth Different AEW Title
In Los Angeles, Omega and Takeshita went to war in a hard-hitting match which saw both men counter each other’s finishing moves. In the end, Kenny Omega trapped the champion in a crucifix pin to capture the AEW International Championship for the very first time.
This is now the fourth different AEW title Omega has held adding it to his reigns with the AEW World, Tag Team, and Trios Championships.
There could now be a huge match on the horizon for Kenny Omega amid suggestions AEW wants to unify two of their championships.
