Kenny Omega Brutally Attacked After AEW Comeback Match
Kenny Omega won in his in-ring AEW return, but things didn’t go so well after the match.
It was a rough 2024 for Kenny Omega since the former AEW and IWGP World Champion missed the entire year due to diverticulitis. The diverticulitis illness led to a surgery that saw Omega have two feet of his intestine taken out of him and a lengthy rehab process meant he couldn’t wrestle.
The Kenny Omega return match took place at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty in the Tokyo Dome when he beat Gabe Kidd in an incredible match.
For his AEW return match, Omega faced Brian Cage of the Don Callis Family on the “Maximum Carnage” edition of Dynamite in Cincinnati. Cage worked over Omega throughout the match and Omega was selling a stomach injury, but he was able to come back.
On AEW Dynamite in Cincinnati, Omega beat Cage with the One Winged Angel slam that he has used to win many matches in his career.
Will Ospreay Failed To Help Kenny Omega Fight Off The Don Callis Family
After Kenny Omega beat Brian Cage, Lance Archer attacked Omega and he was joined by Kyle Fletcher attacking Omega. The trio of Cage, Archer, and Fletcher are part of the Don Callis Family group.
Will Ospreay made the save to clear the ring of Fletcher. Omega hit a knee on Archer and Ospreay hit the Hidden Blade running elbow. Ospreay kicked Fletcher off the apron and did a slingshot dive over the top onto Fletcher.
The AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita went into the ring with Omega where they exchanged punches. Fletcher hit a Snapdragon Suplex on Omega and Takeshita clotheslined Omega. Fletcher did thumb to the eyes of Ospreay and Takeshita decked Ospreay with a forearm.
Takeshita and Fletcher hit their Raging Fire and brainbuster moves on Omega and Ospreay. The Don Callis Family celebrated their attack. Omega and Ospreay were on the mat selling after the attack.
This could lead to a tag team match with Ospreay & Omega facing the Don Callis Family, but nothing was immediately announced after the attack. Omega also saved Ospreay from an attack on AEW Dynamite on January 8th even though the two men have had a rocky past.
