Kenny Omega Training For AEW Return With Absent Star

Kenny Omega promo on AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega could be back in a wrestling ring very soon based on a photo from a recent training session.

The last time that Kenny Omega had a pro wrestling match was the December 5th episode of AEW Collision. That was so long ago that the man he defeated in the match left AEW and is the current WWE NXT Champion, Ethan Page.

Omega has been out of the ring for all of 2024 because of a serious case of diverticulitis, which was described as “almost catastrophic” when he first learned what was wrong with him.

It was in May 2024 when Kenny Omega had surgery to speed up the recovery process. However, surgery for diverticulitis isn’t like surgery for other body parts where a timeline is given about when a return to health might be. There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to something like diverticulitis.

Kenny Omega Photographed With Kota Ibushi By Wrestling Ring

There is some good news for fans of the 40-year-old Omega, who is also an Executive Vice President in AEW in addition to being a wrestler, because it appears as though he has been in a wrestling ring recently. That’s according to this Instagram photo and message from fellow AEW wrestler Kota Ibushi.

World domination is just days away!!
Had a golden practice after a long time.
We are still far from done❗

Next AEW!!!

Kota Ibushi signed with AEW in November 2023 but hasn’t had a match in AEW in 2024. Ibushi did have two matches in the DDT Pro Wrestling promotion in August and September. Like Omega, Ibushi has also missed most of the year with injuries.

There is no word on when Kenny Omega might return to AEW television or when he might wrestle again. However, the fact that he’s training to return again is a very good sign for fans of the former AEW World Champion, Tag Team Champion and Trios Tag Team Champion.
