Kenny Omega AEW Dynasty Title Match Confirmed

Kenny Omega AEW

Kenny Omega will defend the AEW International Title at the Dynasty PPV.

At AEW Revolution, Kenny Omega beat Konosuke Takeshita in a spectacular match to win the AEW International Title, which was an incredible feat for Omega after missing over a year of action due to diverticulitis. That title win also made Omega a Grand Slam Champion in AEW since he’s a former World Champion, Tag Team Champion & Trios Tag Team Champion.

Since Omega was the champion, AEW had to figure out who his next challenger would be.

Four qualifying matches took place on AEW television featuring eight competitors in matches on Dynamite and Collision over the last week. Those matches were won by Orange Cassidy, newcomer “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Ricochet and Mark Davis.

Those four men faced off in a huge match on AEW Dynamite in Omaha, Nebraska where the winner got to earn a shot at the International Title held by Kenny Omega.

It was a very competitive match where all four guys had chances to win. In the end, Bailey pinned Davis with a backslide pin and Ricochet also pinned Davis at the same time while Ricochet put his feet on the ropes. The referee counted the three count while he didn’t see Ricochet’s feet on the ropes.

After the match, the referee Bryce Remsburg talked to Justin Roberts, who announced that challenging Kenny Omega at Dynasty will be Mike Bailey and Ricochet, so it will be a triple threat match.

Mike Bailey Has Wanted A Match With Kenny Omega For Many Years

After making his AEW debut earlier this month, Mike Bailey made it clear that facing his fellow Canadian Kenny Omega was a goal of his. They did wrestle in 2015 before both men became bigger stars.

“Maybe it’s thinking too far ahead and overconfidence. Me vs. Kenny is the match that I’m literally here to get. It’s the match I’ve been chasing for almost ten years.”

At AEW Dynasty in Philadelphia on April 6th, Bailey will get to be in the ring with Omega and they will be joined by Ricochet with the AEW International Title on the line.
