Kenny Omega Confirms AEW Absence, Dismisses “Time Off” Claims
Kenny Omega isn’t happy with the reporting around his AEW absence.
Following the main event of the September 3 edition of Dynamite, Kenny Omega was put through a table by Kyle Fletcher.
While seemingly setting up a match between the pair in the future, it was also used as a way to write Omega off television for the coming weeks.
The on-screen attack was followed by a report that noted Kenny Omega would be taking time off from AEW, which would see him miss All Out on September 20. As noted in the report, the absence had been planned for a long time.
Kenny Omega Dismisses Report… Kind Of
In a slightly confusing response on social media, Omega dismissed the idea that he was taking “time off,” but confirmed he would be absent from upcoming shows. The former AEW World Champion said he’ll be making “specialised hospital visits” that had been planned for a year.
Time off?
Specialized hospital visits and work that had been planned for a year, but sure, let’s bait the trolls.
I’m just trying to improve what I can and represent the company in a positive way while not performing.
Don’t be misleading with headlines, please and thank you.
It was recently reported that Kenny Omega was “battling very serious pain.” However, the report didn’t offer any further details on his condition following the Lights Out Cage Match at Forbidden Door on August 24.
In response, Kenny Omega was quick to calm the nerves of concerned fans, telling everyone not to worry about him or his health.
Omega didn’t wrestle at all in 2024 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis in December 2023. At the time, the illness was a genuine threat to his life, and later there were fears he’d never wrestle again despite undergoing surgery.
The star eventually returned to the ring at Wrestle Dynasty 2025 in January.
