Kenny Omega Addresses Ex-WWE Star’s Future In AEW
Kenny Omega has addressed an AEW wrestler who is in a unique contract situation.
Former WWE superstar Andrade was released by the company in September due to disciplinary action and for allegedly failing the company’s Wellness Policy.
Following his return, Andrade made a surprise return to AEW during the October 1, 2025, episode of Dynamite, but he hasn’t appeared since then.
The reason why Andrade hasn’t appeared in AEW again is that WWE issued a cease-and-desist order, arguing that Andrade was subject to a one-year non-compete clause.
When AEW Owner Tony Khan was asked about Andrade recently, he said that he couldn’t say much about the situation other than he’s excited to work with Andrade again whenever he’s free to do so. In other words, AEW does want Andrade, but they have to follow the legal process.
Kenny Omega is an Executive Vice President in AEW who also values Andrade, as he told Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports in a recent interview.
“To see him back in AEW was a happy moment for me. I felt that he really wanted to be there and do well. Now that he’s been sidelined for a little bit, I can imagine that when he comes back he’ll have the same amount of motivation.
I think everything will be alright. When things happen, whether it be injury or otherwise, you have to pivot. The show must go on. That’s the way it is. That’s the nature of the beast. That’s professional wrestling.” (H/T Fightful)
Kenny Omega Thinks About His Wrestling Retirement
Regarding his own future in pro wrestling, the 42-year-old Kenny Omega wants to leave wrestling without any regrets.
“I would like to be in a situation where I left the ring not having any regrets and not feeling embarrassed or that I tarnished my own reputation. So, I would like to leave when I have some semblance of athleticism left in my body.
I don’t want to completely work until the wheels fall off and that the person that leaves wrestling is one that barely resembles the Kenny Omega of old. So, I’ve been thinking a lot about when that timing would be.”
The former AEW World Champion Omega also doesn’t want fans to be sad whenever he retires from wrestling.
“One important thing for me, too, is when I finally do leave, whenever that may be, I don’t—and this might sound odd—but I don’t want people to be sad. In fact, the best case scenario for me would be that they don’t realize I’m gone at all.
I would love to build people or have the peace of mind that the company has built enough stars so that their star is shining bright enough to distract from me stepping away from the scene. That would make me the most happy.”
At AEW Full Gear on November 22nd, Kenny Omega will be in action when he teams up with Luchasaurus & Jack Perry in a match against The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander, where the winners get a $1 million prize for winning.
