Keith Lee has revealed that he had a dream match in mind with a WWE legend, but it just never came to be.

It was one year ago when Keith Lee debuted in AEW after being released by WWE in late 2021. During his AEW career, Lee has been a Tag Team Champion with Swerve Strickland.

After Lee & Strickland lost the titles to The Acclaimed, their team ended since Swerve is now a heel while Lee remains a popular babyface when he’s actually booked to wrestle.

Prior to his AEW run, Keith Lee worked for WWE from 2018 to 2021. In NXT, Lee made a big impact as a former NXT and North American Champion. During Lee’s run in WWE, Kurt Angle was competing in his final WWE matches leading to his retirement match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

While the star was racking up wins in the black and gold brand, Kurt Angle was enjoying his final run as an in-ring performer.

During an interview on the Masked Man Podcast, Lee revealed that his professional wrestling dream match was with the WWE & TNA Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.

“For as long as I could remember, my number one dream match was against Kurt Angle. When I tell you I had an entire match in my head of things I wanted to happen. I wanted 20, 30 minutes [with him].”

Keith Lee would go on to talk about his influences during his pro wrestling career.

“My influence in this industry is a three-way cross, it’s a triangle, maybe even isosceles, and it is a cross between early [2000s] Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, and Low Ki. Those are some of my biggest influences, and then right there on the precipice is Great Muta. Those are my biggest influences and people I love to study and/or watch.”

Last Friday on AEW Rampage, Lee teamed up with Dustin Rhodes to beat Swerve Strickland and Parker Boudreaux. Keith Lee was not booked for the AEW Rampage pay-per-view on Sunday night.
