Keith Lee Admits AEW Return Is Out Of His Hands

Keith Lee isn’t in control of his in-ring return.

Ahead of AEW Worlds End in December 2023, Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee looked set to resume their rivalry; however, the match was called off at the eleventh hour. Just hours before the event, Lee revealed that he’d been working through an injury for well over a year, and he was replaced in the match by Dustin Rhodes.

It was later confirmed that Lee was set to undergo “double surgeries,” but no further details were given.

The former AEW World Tag Team Champion confirmed he visited a taping in early 2025, but this was because it was held close to where he lives.

On social media, a fan sent their best wishes to Lee, letting him know that he’s missed on AEW TV. The star quickly responded, commenting he’s doing “quite fine,” but when and where he makes his return isn’t up to him.

Again, I am quite fine. It is not up to me when it comes to a return. But blessings to you as well.

Back in May, Keith Lee told a different fan that he expects to return to the ring, although he was unable to give specific details. He added that the “time will come” while urging fans to be patient.
