Kazuchika Okada Discusses His Dream AEW Match

Kazuchika Okada

NJPW ace ‘Rainmaker’ Kazuchika Okada didn’t get his dream match at Forbidden Door but he hinted at a ‘next time’.

Kazuchika Okada is one of the best wrestlers active today and has been since about 2012. His transformation from generic Randy Orton/Ted DiBiase knock-off to top-tier in-ring worker has been widely praised by fans and wrestlers alike. Okada has reached the point in his career that other wrestlers sharing the ring with him is seen as a major career boost.

But there’s someone out there that Okada himself wants to face: Bryan Danielson.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Okada mentioned that he wanted to face Bryan at Forbidden Door, but that obviously didn’t happen. And yet, Okada thinks that such a match-up could still happen.

“I was hoping to meet Bryan Danielson at Forbidden Door, but unfortunately that couldn’t happen. Since we couldn’t talk backstage, I’m happy to meet him in the ring next time.”

Okada went on to praise AEW as a promotion and explained that it excels in some areas while NJPW excels in others. He credited his matches stateside as learning experiences and hopes to have another big cross-promotional event.

Okada’s next big match is his IWGP World Heavyweight title challenge at Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th. If Okada beats Jay White, then a possible match between Kazuchika Okada and Bryan Danielson would be much more likely as it would be seen as a fresh match-up for Okada.
