Karrion Kross & Scarlett Explain Why Returning To WWE Was An Easy Decision

Karrion Kross and Scarlett made their shocking return to WWE on August 5th following their surprising release from the company last November.

During the main event segment on the August 5th episode of Smackdown, Karrion Kross attacked Drew McIntyre from behind while Drew was heading to the ring to confront Roman Reigns. Kross beat up McIntyre by slamming Drew’s head into the steel steps multiple times. Scarlett also put an hourglass on the ring apron in front of Reigns to issue a “tick tock” warning to the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

The former two-time NXT Champion Kross and his wife Scarlett appeared on the WWE After The Bell podcast with Corey Graves. During the discussion, they spoke about their comeback to the company and the impact of Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who is now in charge of WWE’s Creative team.

Kross: “It’s really hard to find the words. To want something so bad and then to have to accept that’s not the reality anymore, and then to get a call one day, out of the blue, and be offered everything you were striving for. It’s pretty incredible.”

Scarlett: “It was the easiest decision too. We had talked about, ‘What if we get this opportunity? Where can we do this? This is how we’re going to do [this] thing, we’re going to stick to it. We have to do things on our terms.’ It’s funny when Hunter called us, he was the best boss we ever had. It was a complete no-brainer. No other company has ever compared to it. We trust him, we definitely trust him with our characters and storylines. It’s perfect.”

The duo of Kross & Scarlett signed with WWE in early 2020. Kross quickly had a big impact in NXT leading to him winning the NXT Title two times with victories over some of the biggest names on the brand like Keith Lee, (Tommaso) Ciampa, Finn Balor and Samoa Joe.

In July 2021, Kross was promoted to the main roster while he was the NXT Champion. Following some questionable creative moves involving some match finishes as well as his look, WWE soured on Kross. It led to Kross and Scarlett being released by WWE on November 4, 2021. Scarlett didn’t even get to appear on the main roster while Kross was on there.

Following their WWE release, Kross and Scarlett did not sign with another wrestling promotion. They appeared at independent wrestling shows together, but they were free to go back to WWE when Triple H called them. Kross and Scarlett were married in April 2022 in Alaska.

This past Friday on the August 19 edition of Smackdown, Karrion Kross issued a warning to McIntyre while mocking him for being called “The Chosen One” earlier in Drew’s career.

H/T to Fightful.
