Karrion Kross Allegedly Not “In Favor” Backstage In WWE
Karrion Kross appears to have finally landed on his feet after months of dismal bookings.
Kross had been featured playing mind games with Sami Zayn for weeks, which culminated in them having a singles match at WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
Despite dominating most of the match, the former NXT Champion fell short, as Zayn turned the tide in his favor in the closing minutes.
Regardless, Kross remains upbeat.
On the June 30 episode of RAW, he attacked Zayn backstage before hitting him in the ribs with a steel pipe. It is fair to assume their rivalry will continue for a few more weeks.
Former WWE writer Vince Russo recently assessed Karrion Kross’ presence in WWE on the BroDown podcast with Mac Davis.
He also stated that Kross may be a victim of backstage politics.
That is the politics of professional wrestling. Sami Zayn is in favor and Karrion Kross is not. It’s that simple, bro. [27:37 onwards]
He also mentioned that any casual fan would name Kross as the bigger star if he stood beside Zayn.
However, due to the latter’s popularity backstage, Kross may be seen as the lesser of the two by the company’s higher-ups.
Karrion Kross Set To Be Retained By WWE
For weeks, speculations about Karrion Kross’ future with the Stamford-based company remained one of the most-discussed topics.
With him and his wife, Scarlett, now getting more TV time due to a continuing feud with Sami Zayn, WWE looks interested in extending their contracts.
Furthermore, Kross receiving new merchandise is also a positive indicator.
Neither WWE nor Kross has officially announced the renewal of his stint.
