Julius Creed of NXT’s Diamond Mine Considered “Special” Talent
Julius Creed of WWE’s NXT 2.0 brand is a name to keep an eye on with some people in WWE developmental referring to him as a “special” talent.
Creed’s real name is Jacob Kasper and he was a two-time All-American wrestler from Duke. He signed with WWE in October 2020.
After Creed’s June 2018 tryout, WWE wrote this about him on their website:
“2018 ACC heavyweight wrestling champion Jacob Kasper, a two-time All-American from Duke University who placed in the 2016 Olympic Trials and holds 108 career wins. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 225 pounds, Kasper has attracted much attention from sports media and WWE experts. WWE Hall of Famer and recruiter Gerald Brisco even likened him to one of WWE’s all-time greats, telling ESPN.com that Kasper ‘reminds me in many ways of a young John Cena.’ In addition to his accomplishments in wrestling, Kasper has also been a training partner for current UFC champion Daniel Cormier, as well as former champions Luke Rockhold and Cain Velasquez.”
Currently, Julius is a part of the Diamond Mine group with his brother Brutus Creed. They picked up another victory in tag team action last night on NXT.
There is apparently a lot to like about Julius with Dave Meltzer writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Julius is a guy that could be a major star in WWE some day.
“I’ve had people remark that Jacob Kasper, who is Julius Creed of the Diamond Mine in NXT, is going to be special. Actually, I first heard this privately before he ever signed regarding they felt he had potential to be a major star. While training, he’s developed a reputation for being a hard worker and quick learner and his name has been mentioned to me a few times and even more of late.”
There’s no telling how far The Creed Brothers might go in NXT 2.0 in the near future, but the brand is all about pushing young talent, so remember Julius Creed is a guy to keep an eye on.
