Judgment Day Star To Challenge For NXT Gold
The Judgment Day made their presence felt as they appeared on NXT television with Dominik Mysterio on the hunt for championship gold.
Finn Balor made a surprise return to NXT to attack Seth Rollins ahead of their World Heavyweight Title match at Money In The Bank but Rollins had some help from NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams who chased Balor off. That led to a match between Hayes and Balor which the Irish star won.
On the 27th of June edition of NXT television Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley appeared on the show as she issued a stark warning to Hayes and Williams to stay out of Judgment Day business but it looks like that warning has gone unheeded.
Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams subsequently invited the entire Judgment Day to NXT in a backstage segment and Finn Balor responded to say that the entire group would be there on the 11th of July edition of NXT television.
Damian Priest and Finn Balor looked to put their strained relationship behind them as they defeated Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams in the night’s main event but Dirty Dominik Mysterio had gold on his mind.
Accompanied as ever by his ‘mami’ Rhea Ripley, Mysterio confronted Wes Lee as the NXT North American Champion was being interviewed backstage. Mysterio issued a challenge to Lee for his title and the champion wanted to do the match then and there but Mysterio put the brakes on that and instead, the match will take place on July 18th.
Should Dominik Mysterio be successful, then it will mean every member of The Judgment Day will have held gold on NXT with Damian Priest previously holding the NXT North American Title, Finn Balor winning the NXT Championship twice, and Rhea Ripley winning the NXT Women’s Championship.
