Judge Accepts Updated Lawsuit From Janel Grant Against Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon

There’s been a major development in the legal battle between Janel Grant and Vince McMahon.

A federal judge has accepted Janel Grant’s updated lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis. The updated suit was re-filed in January, a year after the original action was filed.

However, Judge Sarah F. Russell did rule to hold off discovery in the case, something the defendants had been fighting for. But, crucially, the judge is allowing Grant to request “motion-related” discovery in relation to arbitration.

Discovery is a key moment in the case where certain evidence is required to be turned over.

The defendants, who have been pushing to get the case moved to arbitration since the beginning, are expected to resubmit their motions to compel arbitration by June 13. This could see Grant request discovery related to those motions by June 23.

In making her decision, Judge Russell wrote the following:

“It is certainly clear that some of Grant’s proposed amendments include facts she knew or should have known when she filed the Complaint. But her newly pleaded facts do not deprive Defendants of their ability to timely assert that her claims are subject to arbitration. I accordingly decline to find her amendments are in bad faith.”

In a statement issued to POST Wrestling, representatives for Grant applauded Russell for “letting the facts prevail.”

“We’re grateful that Judge Sarah Russell let the facts prevail today and granted our motion to amend Janel Grant’s complaint against Vince McMahon and WWE. The amended complaint is essential to understanding the extent of McMahon’s abuse and trafficking of Ms. Grant and the degree to which WWE failed her.

We look forward to moving forward with Ms. Grant’s amended complaint and taking another step toward bringing the truth to light and ensuring Ms. Grant’s allegations against McMahon and WWE are taken seriously.”

Vince McMahon Accused Of Sexual Abuse & Sex Trafficking

In January 2024, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE. The lawsuit contained allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking.

Among the allegations in the suit, Grant claimed that McMahon recruited a “Physical Therapist” from an “Alternative Clinic” to participate in threesomes with the pair. Grant claims she was forced into these sex acts and others by the former WWE boss.

There were also allegations that McMahon offered potential sexual encounters with Grant in a bid to get Brock Lesnar to re-sign with the company.

On May 2, 2025, Dr. Carlon Colker filed a lawsuit against Janel Grant’s lawyer, Ann Callis, and the Holland Law Firm. The suit alleges that Callis and the firm made false public statements regarding Colker’s connection to the McMahon lawsuit.
