AEW’s Jon Moxley Reminds WWE Hall Of Famer Of Legendary Movie Character
A WWE Hall of Famer thinks that AEW World Champion Jon Moxley has some personality traits like a 1980s movie character.
Ever since he won the AEW World Championship, Jon Moxley has refused to display the championship publicly. Instead, Moxley’s Death Riders ally Marina Shafir has been carrying around the AEW World Title in a briefcase.
Jon Moxley believes that he is the AEW World Championship, according to some recent comments that he made. Moxley believes that you don’t need to see the title because you can see him and he’s the one who represents the championship.
Those comments by Moxley got WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray (Bubba Ray Dudley) thinking about Mr. Miyagi from the “Karate Kid” movies. During a recent episode of Busted Open After Dark, Bully Ray thought Moxley’s explanation was good even though Ray doesn’t think all of the Death Rider stuff makes sense.
“Mox is basically like, ‘I don’t need the championship. I am the championship.’ I thought that was really good.
You know what it reminded me of? It reminded me of Mr. Miyagi in the original ‘Karate Kid,’ when he’s telling Daniel-San, ‘Karate is not about your hands. It’s not about the physical contact. Karate is about what’s in your mind and in your heart.'”
As he continued, Bully Ray talked about how he isn’t the type of guy who puts his titles on display so he understood what Moxley was saying.
“That’s all in my heart, that’s all in my soul, that’s all in my mind. I know what I did. I don’t need to throw it up on my wall to remind me of it. And that’s what I got from Moxley tonight. I liked that aspect of it. None of the other Death Rider s**t makes sense — none of it.”
Jon Moxley Will Be Part Of Huge AEW Grand Slam Tag Team Match
The next big AEW show is the February 15th Grand Slam Australia show that will be taped in Australia and air later that night in the United States after NBA All-Star Saturday night.
On AEW Dynamite in Atlanta, Jon Moxley and his Deather Riders group had their hands full as they brawled with Jay White, Adam Copeland (aka Cope), and FTR’s Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler.
After Moxley and the Death Riders ran away, they were challenged to a tag team match that will take place on AEW’s Grand Slam Australia show. That match is a Brisbane Brawl featuring Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Adam Copeland & Jay White.
Adam Copeland has challenged Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at Revolution, but the champion hasn’t accepted the match yet. Perhaps it will become official after the Grand Slam Australia show.
The confirmed card for AEW Grand Slam Australia on February 15th looks like this so far:
- Mariah May (c) vs. Toni Storm – AEW Women’s World Championship
- Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Buddy Matthews – AEW Continental Championship
- Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Adam Copeland & Jay White – Brisbane Brawl
- Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher
