Why Jon Moxley Won’t Defend AEW Title At Grand Slam

Jon Moxley AEW

Jon Moxley is heading to Grand Slam Australia but he won’t be putting his AEW World Title on the line for a very good reason.

Jon Moxley has reigned over AEW since he won the world title from Bryan Danielson at WrestleDream. As the leader of the Death Riders, Moxley has brought terror and destruction to AEW as he looks to rebuild the company in his own image.

That has brought him up against some major players on the roster and Adam Copeland has challenged Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at Revolution, but the champion has other ideas.

Jon Moxley Set For AEW Brisbane Brawl

Moxley has rejected that match so far but on the February 5 edition of Dynamite, he accepted another major match for Grand Slam Australia.

A wild brawl opened Dynamite before Adam Copeland and Jay White challenged Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli to a tag team match at Grand Slam, which he dubbed a “Brisbane Brawl.” Moxley accepted that match meaning his AEW World Title won’t be on the line Down Under.

The confirmed card for AEW Grand Slam Australia so far is –

  • Mariah May (c) vs. Toni Storm – AEW Women’s World Championship
  • Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Buddy Matthews – AEW Continental Championship
  • Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Adam Copeland & Jay White – Brisbane Brawl
  • Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher
