Jon Moxley Defeats CM Punk To Become Undisputed AEW World Champion
The Undisputed AEW World Championship was up for grabs as Jon Moxley faced CM Punk on Dynamite and it was Moxley winning the match in dominant fashion.
The August 24th edition of Dynamite featured what was supposed to be one of the biggest matches in AEW history. It was the AEW World Champion CM Punk in his first match in nearly three months against the Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, who hated being called an “interim” champion for the last two months.
Even though it was a huge title match, AEW decided to put Moxley vs. Punk at the start of the second hour of Dynamite.
Early in the match, Punk delivered a kick to the head with his right foot and then he crumbled in pain grabbing his left foot. Punk was screaming in pain while grabbing the left foot. From there, Punk was selling like he was in a lot of pain and Moxley finished him off rather quickly.
While Punk was hurt, Moxley delivered a stiff clothesline and elbows to the body. Moxley also squeezed Punk’s left foot to cause more pain to the injury. Moxley hit his Death Rider finishing move twice to win the Undisputed AEW World Championship in a match that went just over three minutes.
Shortly after Dynamite ended, AEW posted the full Moxley/Punk match on their Youtube channel. That is not something they usually do, but they did for this match.
After the match was over, Moxley celebrated with his two titles. During the celebration, he left one of his titles in the ring and just kept the other as the Undisputed AEW Champion moving forward.
As for Punk, he was helped to the back by doctors and one of Punk’s best friends Ace Steel, who works for AEW. They helped Punk walk to the back while Punk was favoring the left foot injury.
