Jon Moxley Faces Tough AEW Title Test After Casino Gauntlet

Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley now knows his next challenger for the AEW World Championship as a surprise winner of the Casino Gauntlet match emerged on Dynamite.

Jon Moxley’s reign of terror as AEW World Champion began at WrestleDream when he won the gold and in the process ended the full-time in-ring career of Bryan Danielson.

Since then, with a huge amount of help from his Death Riders, Moxley has seemed unconquerable. This proved to be the case again at Worlds End when Jon Moxley survived three challengers to cling onto his title but champions can never rest for too long and his next title match is now official.

Jon Moxley Faces Tough AEW Challenge

On the January 8 edition of Dynamite, a Casino Gauntlet match took place with ten stars making it to the ring for the match. Jeff Jarrett was entrant number 11 and made his entrance while the match was still in progress but he was attacked by Wheeler Yuta and those two fought to the back.

Jay White and Hangman Adam Page kicked off the match but when all was said and done it was Powerhouse Hobbs who picked up the win after nailing Kyle O’Reilly with a huge spinebuster. Powerhouse Hobbs will now challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at Dynamite Maximum Carnage on January 15.

Powerhouse Hobbs previously challenged Moxley for his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in April 2024 but that match had to be stopped due to an injury to Hobbs that kept him out of action for seven months.
