Jon Moxley Saved By NJPW Star In Shock Dynamite Twist

Jon Moxley escaped AEW Beach Break still AEW World Champion, but he had an outspoken former NJPW star to thank.

Jon Moxley has held AEW hostage ever since he became world champion once again at WrestleDream in October 2024. Moxley and his Death Riders have drawn the ire of The Opps in recent weeks, and when Samoa Joe choked out Moxley to win the AEW Trios Championship, it became clear that Joe was next in line for a shot at the company’s biggest prize.

At Dynamite Beach Break, Jon Moxley put his title on the line against Samoa Joe in a Steel Cage match. Moxley was joined at ringside by his Death Riders while Powerhouse Hobbs and Willow Nightingale cornered Joe. The stage was set for chaos, but few could have predicted just which star would prove pivotal in the outcome.

Gabe Kidd Joins Jon Moxley’s Army

As all hell broke loose outside the ring with Moxley locked in the Coquina Clutch, Joe became distracted, allowing a hooded figure to slide Jon Moxley the briefcase, which contains the AEW World Title, which he then used to nail Joe and pick up the win. The hooded figure then revealed himself to be New Japan Pro Wrestling star Gabe Kidd.

Gabe Kidd was Kenny Omega’s opponent at Wrestle Dynasty in Omega’s first match back after a year out of action due to a serious illness.
