Jon Moxley’s Controversial Promo Made NFL Team Make Policy Change

Jon Moxley AEW

The AEW World Champion Jon Moxley went a bit too far for his hometown NFL team.

Jon Moxley isn’t afraid to mince words when he’s doing promos on AEW television. Moxley is the leader of the Death Riders group with Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, Wheeler Yuta, and Marina Shafir while trying to intimidate anybody who comes after him.

This is Jon Moxley’s record-breaking fourth reign as the AEW World Champion and this time it looks different than any other champion in company history. During this reign, Moxley refuses to carry the AEW World Title around his shoulder or put it around his waist. That’s because he prefers to put the AEW World Title in a briefcase that is usually carried by Shafir.

Renee Paquette is Moxley’s wife who also works for AEW as a backstage interviewer. The couple did an interview with Cincinnati.com talking about how Moxley did a promo in his hometown of Cincinnati during a game between the NFL’s Bengals and their rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs. The game was on December 4, 2022, with the Bengals beating the Chiefs 27-24.

During the game, Moxley was a “Ruler of the Jungle” who took a shot at KC’s star QB Patrick Mahomes. Since then, the Bengals haven’t let the “Ruler of the Jungle” speak due to what Moxley said.

Paquette: “Why don’t you talk about being Ruler of the Jungle and how much you ruined it for anybody else’s experience moving forward?”

Moxley: “I think they took away a live (microphone) from anybody going forward. I didn’t even say anything that bad. They asked me to pump up the crowd.”

Renee Paquette: “You said, ‘Patrick Mahomes is going to piss his little red pants all the way back to Kansas City.”

Moxley: “Yeah, and that’s not that bad. It’s not that bad at all. Get out of here, dude. It’s Sunday. This is football. It’s not Sunday School hopscotch. It’s the NFL. But yeah, they got all upset about it.”

Jon Moxley Defending AEW World Title In His Hometown

AEW is in Cincinnati this week for Maximum Carnage Dynamite on January 15th and a taping of Collision the next night as well. Moxley and Paquette live in the Cincinnati area with their daughter while Moxley grew up in the area, so the AEW World Champion is the hometown hero of sorts.

At AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage, Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Title against Casino Gauntlet winner Powerhouse Hobbs. It will be a tough test for Moxley since Hobbs is one of the strongest wrestlers in AEW who has had a lot of momentum since coming back from an injury a few months ago. For Hobbs, it’s the biggest match of his career.
