Jon Moxley Losing Sleep Over Surprising AEW Fear
Jon Moxley remains determined to build AEW.
Since joining AEW, Jon Moxley has repeatedly stated he’s determined to make the promotion as big and successful as possible. This has seen him take a leadership role in the locker room as he tries to drag everyone involved up to the level he thinks is required.
This masterplan has played into Moxley’s on-screen persona, although as the leader of the Death Riders, he’s taken a much more violent approach. In short, wrestlers can step up and join the cause, or they can get run over.
In a new interview with Josh Guttman of Knockturnal, Moxley gave a rare look behind the curtain and broke down his desire for the next generation. The World Champion said he’s kept awake at night at the prospect of some talented young stars falling through the cracks and not fulfilling their potential.
“I can easily hide in the locker room or go back to the hotel and hide. I don’t have to be here, right? So, shoot your shot, man, I’m giving you the chance. The kind of sh*t that keeps me up at night is the thought of guys and girls at All Elite Wrestling that, a few years pass and whatever, and you realize in they never saw the potential in themselves.
That’s the kind of sh*t that keeps me up at night. Often, the promoters, or whoever the fuck in whatever line of work you’re in, they don’t see it. Often, that leads to the motivation to then go out and be the greatest ever in your sport, or whatever it is. First, you have to see it, and you have to see everything that you have inside of you and everything that you’re capable of.
I feel like a lot of people in this world now are waiting for everybody else to tell them who they are and what they can do, and they’re spend a lot of time reading sh*t other people type on their phone and taking pictures that aren’t real, and looking at pictures that aren’t real.
F*cking reality is getting twisted and bent and sh*t and being a brand new baby organization, that’s one of the things that worries me the the most is that people slipping through the cracks. It sucks. Not everybody’s gonna make it, right? Everyone does their best to mitigate that and to create as much opportunity for as much success as possible.”
Jon Moxley Set For Huge Match At AEW Dynasty
At Dynasty on April 6, Moxley will put the World Championship on the line against Swerve Strickland in a highly-anticipated main event. Strickland became the number one contender after beating Ricochet at Revolution.
On the April 2 edition of Dynamite, Jon Moxley stunned fans by taking out Willow Nightingale with a Paradigm Shift. Moments earlier, Moxley had refused to get physical with Nightingale during a mixed tornado tag team match also featuring Strickland and Marina Shafir.
However, as Strickland celebrated his team’s win, Moxley struck to the disbelief of those watching.
