Jon Moxley To Defend AEW World Title On Dynamite With Stipulation
The AEW World Champion Jon Moxley is defending his title on Dynamite, but he’s not doing it in a normal match.
Jon Moxley defended the AEW World Title against Adam Copeland aka Cope at the Revolution PPV in Los Angeles in a match that didn’t end with either man losing the match.
Christian Cage made his presence felt in the match when he decided to cash in his World Title opportunity while the Moxley-Cope match was going on. After Cope hit a third Spear in the match, Cage showed up wearing a hoodie and prevented his former best friend from winning the AEW World Title.
After Cage hit a Spear and a Killswitch, he got two counts with those moves. That’s when Moxley got a hold of Cage, put him in the dreaded Bulldog Choke and Cage passed out in the hold, so Moxley got the win to keep his title.
In addition to being a controversial match, Moxley’s title defense was also criticized by a lot of fans for being a disappointing match on a Revolution show that featured some incredible matches.
Jon Moxley Will Defend AEW World Title Against Cope Again
It was announced on AEW Dynamite following Revolution that on the March 19th episode of Dynamite in Omaha, Nebraska, Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Title against Cope one more time. This time, it will be a Street Fight.
Swerve Strickland was featured in a video talking about his win over Ricochet at Revolution which will lead to Swerve getting a World Title shot at the Dynasty PPV. Swerve mentioned winning the AEW World Title at Dynasty last year, so he’d like to do it again this year. Meanwhile, in the same video, Cope told Swerve that he didn’t lose at Revolution and there’s still a chance that he is the AEW World Champion at Dynasty, so Swerve could be against Cope. They touched fists as a sign of respect.
There was a promo featuring Jon Moxley talking into a camera as well. Moxley said that he should have put Cope on ice before Christian even showed up. Moxley admitted he underestimated Cope. Moxley claimed he knew he heard Cope, but he didn’t care because he kept coming forward.
As he continued, Moxley said if Cope didn’t like the rules, then take the rules out and Moxley said call it a Street Fight if you want. Moxley said he underestimated Cope’s resolve, toughness and grit. Mox said that there are differences between amateurs and professionals. Moxley said he would never make the same mistake twice to end it.
