Johnny Gargano Attacks WWE Champion On SmackDown Tonight

Johnny Gargano was one of the top stars during his time down in WWE NXT, both as a tag team wrestler and as a singles star, winning multiple championships on the former black and gold brand.

However, since making the jump to the main roster, he hasn’t seen the same levels of success, but is being featured prominently in the tag team division of SmackDown, as part of DIY.

Both members of DIY have been chasing after the United States championship, as they both unsuccessfully challenged Ilja Dragunov for the title in the past.

Johnny Gargano attacked Carmelo Hayes on WWE SmackDown

Camelo Hayes finally got his hands on his first singles title on the main roster tonight as he defeated Dragunov for the belt. He seemed ecstatic after his win and was seen chatting with Cathy Kelly in the back.

However, he was interrupted during his interview backstage by Johnny Gargano, who initiated an unprovoked attack on the newly crowned United States champion, potentially setting up a title match between the two in the future.
