John Cena’s Father Unhappy With Son’s Final WWE Match
John Cena Sr. has doubled down on his opinion about Gunther being the wrong choice as his son’s final opponent.
On the latest SmackDown episode, The Ring General met LA Knight in the final of the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament, where he made the Megastar submit to a cravat submission.
In doing so, he officially became John Cena’s opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII on December 13.
Better Alternatives For Gunther Available, Believes John Cena Sr.
Not long ago, the 17-time World Champion’s father had publicly rejected the idea of his son facing the Austrian superstar in his last wrestling match.
He claimed that Gunther did not need the rub, as he was already one of the top wrestlers in the company.
His discussion on the All Axxess Podcast gained quick traction among fans, something that he acknowledged during a recent chat with Bill Apter.
John Cena Sr. also clarified that he was not undermining Gunther, but rather saying that there were better choices, considering the 38-year-old had already retired Goldberg earlier in the year.
I don’t want people to get the wrong idea. I guess it’s all over the internet about how I feel about Gunther being the final opponent. I’m against it, I am. I am not taking away anything from that world-class professional wrestler, Gunther. He is a ring professional, undoubtedly a technician in that ring.
But, when it comes to the final match, the end, is that the guy who should if it works out to be a defeat. Is that the guy who gets the honors, if that’s the word you want to use? Or should it be someone like an LA Knight, should it be someone like a Jacob Fatu, or a Solo Sikoa? Somebody who can benefit from that situation.
