John Cena’s Return Causing WWE Star To Forget Fandom

John Cena

A younger WWE star who idolized John Cena is ready to move on from being a fan and ready to fight if they meet in the Royal Rumble.

John Cena is one of the biggest favorites to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match because it’s his last time competing in a Royal Rumble. A lot of WWE fans think that Cena will win because it will lead to challenging for the WWE or World Title at WrestleMania 41 in April.

At the age of 47 years old, Cena may be the oldest man in the Royal Rumble match while some guys could be 15, 20, or 25 years younger than him. Those guys who are a lot younger than Cena may look at him as an idol and somebody who they want to be like as WWE superstars.

Carmelo Hayes is still in his first year on the WWE main roster after being very successful in NXT. At 30 years old, Hayes has many great years ahead of him.

During an interview with Sportskeeda’s Wrestle Binge, Hayes was asked if he would like to face Cena and what he thinks about the future WWE Hall of Famer.

“Absolutely! John Cena, like I said, when I was a kid, super hero, you know what I mean, to all of us and it would be a dream come true and now, we’re on the same level as far as we both work for the WWE, we’re both on the main roster and now he’s an enemy, now he’s a threat, now he’s the opposition.

So, all that fandom goes completely out the window. ‘John Cena, I can actually can see you and I will see you either tomorrow or one day in the future.'”

CM Punk Feels Like He Is On The Same Road As John Cena

While many people are picking John Cena to win the Royal Rumble, another popular pick is CM Punk. In a recent interview, Punk talked about how he is on a similar path as Cena. Considering they are only a year apart in age, it’s easy to see why Punk feels that way.

I never know when my last match is going to be, and you see guys like John Cena doing a full blown retirement tour. I look at myself like I’m on the same road as John, maybe just not egotistical enough to announce to everybody, ‘Hey, this is it.’

I’m not setting a limit on anything, I’m just doing my best to bulletproof myself on a daily basis, work as hard on recovery as I do in the gym and in the ring, and not make this twilight of my career extended beyond what people expect of me.

You can watch the WWE Royal Rumble when it streams live on Saturday, February 1, at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, exclusively on Peacock in the United States and Netflix internationally.
