John Cena’s “Perfect” Final WWE Opponent Named
John Cena will retire from wrestling in December.
Cena’s final match is scheduled for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII in Washington, DC, on December 13. Although his opponent has yet to be determined.
To do so, the company started a 16-man tournament called “Last Time Is Now,” which has now completed the first round and the quarter-finals.
During his retirement run, Cena achieved personal milestones, first becoming the record 17-time World Champion and later, a Grand Slam Champion by winning the Intercontinental Championship for the first time.
Gunther, who has entered the semi-finals, is widely speculated to be John Cena’s final opponent.
Elsewhere, a 10-time World Champion named himself as Cena’s “perfect’ final opponent.
CM Punk recently appeared for an interview on Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams, where he was shown a compilation of himself taking out several wrestlers with the GTS.
When The Second City Saint mentioned taking out Cena, the host asked him about who he thought would be the ‘perfect’ opponent for the current Intercontinental Champion.
Well, perfect, probably would have been me.
John Cena and CM Punk had a brief feud, which led to a world title match between them at Night of Champions, which Cena won.
CM Punk Names Gunther As John Cena’s Perfect Final Opponent
Gunther is scheduled to take on Solo Sikoa, the leader of the MFT, in the semi-finals.
Sikoa qualified after winning his match against Penta on RAW due to the latter not being able to complete the match as a result of an injury.
Meanwhile, The Ring General defeated Carmelo Hayes in the quarter-finals.
Speaking about Gunther, CM Punk said:
Right now, I don’t know if it’s perfect, but it’s looking like Gunther because I’ve been in the ring with him, and I know what he could do, and I don’t know who else in that tournament can beat him right now.
John Cena will next defend his Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29.
