John Cena’s Ex-Partner Sets Conditions For WWE Return After 10 Years

A former WWE tag team partner of John Cena would be open to a return to the ring for the right price.

John Cena is most known as a singles wrestler in WWE with a record 17 WWE World Titles won during his career. In addition to the WWE Title, Cena also held the US Championship five times.

Many fans don’t think of John Cena as a Tag Team Champion, but he held different versions of the Tag Team Titles with four different wrestlers. Three of them are either current Hall of Famers or future Hall of Famers: Shawn Michaels, Batista, and The Miz. The fourth? Not exactly a Hall of Famer. It was David Otunga during Cena’s short time in The Nexus group.

David Otunga worked for WWE from 2008 to 2015 and then again from 2015 to 2019 as an announcer.

During an interview with Inside the Ring, David Otunga was asked about a possible WWE return.

“I haven’t had any injuries, thankfully. But yeah, that’s something I would do if the storyline was right… price was right. Price is right, right, right, right. Yeah. That’s definitely something. Enough zeros on the paycheck. Hopefully next year or so maybe. Yeah. You never know. Hey, if somebody offers me…”

With all due respect to David Otunga, his name is not usually one that fans mention when it comes to making WWE comebacks, but in the world of WWE, anything can happen.

David Otunga Is Still Angry About John Cena Hurting The Nexus

In another recent interview, David Otunga vented about the 7-on-7 match at SummerSlam 2010 when John Cena’s team beat The Nexus because Cena insisted that his team would win.

“We were the hottest thing running, and they knew that, and then it was so bad. The SummerSlam thing, that was a disaster. We should have won that. That completely cut the legs out from under us. Everybody agreed, but one person – John Cena.”

Regarding John Cena’s retirement at the end of 2025, David Otunga made the point that The Nexus should return to attack Cena again.

“I think it’s a travesty if he retires without the Nexus coming back to whoop his ass. I think that’s what should happen. All of a sudden, who’s coming through the crowd? Who pops up on the ring? Boom, it’s payback. Here’s your receipt. Our receipt.”

Good luck to David Otunga with that.
