John Cena’s Final WWE Title Plans Up In Smoke

John Cena WWE

John Cena’s career is coming to an end, but it seems WWE has shifted its plan for one of his final opponents.

John Cena will compete in the final match of his career at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th, but before then, it looks likely that Cena will be in action at least once more, at Survivor Series in San Diego.

A tournament is being held to determine Cena’s final opponent, but there have been suggestions that Cena could be challenging for championship gold at Survivor Series. Rumours swirled that John Cena was going to face Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship – the one title Cena has never held in his iconic career.

Dominik Mysterio Missing Out On John Cena Match?

However, that doesn’t look like it will now happen after WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio made his huge return on Raw to confront his wayward son.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Rey Mysterio’s return to confront his son likely means any plans for Dominik Mysterio to face John Cena are now off:

So to me from watching TV, it looks to me that they’re gonna do Rey and Dom in San Diego because Rey is cleared. And not Dom and Cena. The angle with Rey and Dom was too strong not to go in that direction.
