John Cena’s Final Words Backstage Before WWE Retirement Match
John Cena competed in his final wrestling match on December 13.
The lead-up to this match comprised 36 dates allotted to Cena by WWE after he announced his retirement during the 2024 Money in the Bank PLE.
During these appearances, Cena has achieved multiple milestones while doing what he does best: putting on great matches.
At WrestleMania 41, he became a record 17-time world champion, leaving behind “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. He also captured his first Intercontinental Championship in November, thus becoming a Grand Slam Champion.
On Saturday, John Cena faced Gunther, who won the right to go up against him by winning the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament.
A video shared on Instagram by the WWE MENA account shows Cena preparing to go out to the ring for the final time, joking with someone in the Gorilla Position.
Just wanna wish you both good luck. We’re all counting on you.

Why Did John Cena Lose His Final WWE Match?
John Cena’s loss to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event sent shockwaves among fans worldwide.
It was more the nature by which he lost the match rather than the loss itself. Cena tapped out to an opponent for the first time in over two decades after The Ring General applied the Sleeper hold on him.
During the post-show, Triple H explained that Cena’s loss had more to do with traditions than taking fan sentiments into account.
There are time honored traditions in our business. John has said the right thing his entire career, that it’s about leaving this place better than the way he found it. There’s no way for people to understand that in the moment, but you do what is right for the business, you do what is right for this industry. John has done that his entire career and I’m going to do that my entire career. I will do what I believe is right for this business and it just is what it is. I understand that’s tough for people to understand but it’s part of what we do, that is the role what we have chosen.
If you were to say what will Cena do on his way out… He will put somebody over on the way out. He will leave this better than he found it and he will make somebody on his way out, that is what John does, that is what John has always done. I know people will criticize this and people will look at it, people will talk about this moment right here. I’ve got big shoulders I can handle it. [H/T: WrestleTalk]
