John Cena’s Babyface Turn Before WWE SummerSlam Might Be One Big Lie
John Cena is going to return as a babyface at SummerSlam 2025, and this is a moment fans have been waiting for.
On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, The Champ granted The American Nightmare’s wish and explained that he would be returning as the real John Cena at the premium live event.
However, The Champ has also said that he knows exactly what to tell the WWE Universe, and he knows exactly how they will be reacting to his words.
John Cena might be playing the fans like a fiddle
The Undisputed WWE Champion has explained that he was lying to the fans and that he knows he is smarter than the fandom. Therefore, there is no guarantee that his claim to return as babyface Cena isn’t a lie.
On Notsam Wrestling, Sam Roberts pointed out that it took only 10 minutes of promo time to have the fans cheer for him again. Roberts was sitting in the audience and revealed that when Cena came out to the arena, fans booed. However, by the time he was done with the segment, fans cheered him on.
We could also see is John Cena explaining that he was lying to all of us because John Cena himself, as a character, said what was motivating him was that he was smarter than the rest of us. That he knew what he was doing and how we were going to react. that he has the ability to play us all like a fiddle. John Cena said this. ‘I am smarter than you. It is my most valuable asset, and I say things knowing exactly how you’re going to react to them, and you always react exactly how you’re supposed to react to them’.
The fact that John Cena was legitimately able to get the entire crowd on his side by saying exactly what they wanted to hear, knowing exactly what they wanted to hear, and doing it in over the course of 10 minutes on one end makes us feel good because it feels like John Cena’s back as a baby face and that’s what we want. On the other end, that promo proved that John Cena as a heel and his assessment of the audience is 1,000% correct.

Only when the actual event and match come around will fans know whether Cena was lying or not. However, it is to be noted that even Cody Rhodes did not question how Cena granted him his wish this quickly!
