John Cena’s WWE Retirement Match To Witness Outside Interference
John Cena is set to retire this weekend.
The Last Real Champion will face The Ring General Gunther in a retirement bout on Saturday, December 13, at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
Former WWE superstar Maven recently sat down for a virtual interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring, where he weighed in on Cena’s retirement bout.
Maven addressed the ongoing backlash that WWE is facing for choosing Gunther as Cena’s retirement opponent. He feels Triple H and company made the right choice.
I think, and I know some people were upset that Gunther was the choice, but I think it’s a perfect choice. I think they picked a professional. They picked someone that can work, and they picked someone that the fans are going to be able to believe. I like the choice.
Talking about the match, he added that he’s pretty sure the bout will witness outside interference.
That said, there will be interferences. I’m saying it here. (From 6:51)
John Cena Will Serve As WWE’s Brand Ambassador For Two Or Three Decades
While talking to TMZ, Maven also discussed John Cena’s new deal with WWE. He stated that he sees Cena spending another 20 to 30 years with WWE as the company’s brand ambassador.
I don’t think he’s going to come back in that sense that The Rock did. I don’t think I see him coming back in the ring. I see him constantly for the next 20, 30 years being a part of the WWE. He’s too big of a name, and he’s mattered too much. I mean, John Cena is the face of a generation.
That said, he probably has a little bit more wear and tear on his body than Rocky had. I would say Rocky spent about a good solid seven years in the ring, day in, day out, whereas John’s been doing this since the early 2000s.
I mean, for 25 years, his body, I guarantee you, it’s beat to hell. And the way I know that is my body’s beat to hell, and I have about a fifth of the amount of bumps that John has. Wow. So I see him never leaving the WWE and an ambassadorship, just a role is it’s so great. (From 13:00)
