John Cena Calls Former Rival WWE’s Greatest Superstar Of All Time

John Cena you cant see me

John Cena thinks he knows who the greatest WWE superstar of all time and he has a few reasons why.

As a veteran WWE superstar with 22 years of experience on the main roster, John Cena has been in the ring with a lot of all-time great wrestlers.

Fans of Cena can recall so many matches with all-time great superstars like The Rock, CM Punk, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Triple H, Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, and so many others.

It is tough for anybody, whether they are a WWE superstar or not, to pick just one wrestler historically as the greatest of all time. However, Cena did his best to explain why Roman Reigns is his choice.

While Cena and Reigns haven’t had a match at WrestleMania (yet), they have met in the ring numerous times and famously had a match at No Mercy 2017 with Reigns getting the win over Cena. For most fans, the memories of that feud involve Cena roasting Reigns on the microphone in the build up to that match.

During an interview with Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Cena was asked for his choice of the greatest WWE superstar of all time and he gave an eloquent response about why it is Reigns.

“It’s amazing I’m saying a still active talent with years in front of him is the greatest of all time. But he’s been in it since 2012, I had to work my way up. I started on the bench and then got onto the Saturday program, and then just lost every match. He came in with The Shield in a really high-level spot and never wavered.”

“Even when the fans didn’t like him, he was still in a main event spot. He’s been in a main event lens for over a decade now. And he’s brought through his clock, and you could say whatever forces helped it, but in 2012 we were the stock was trading at 11 bucks, WWE or TKO stocks now at 117, that’s on his shoulders.”

“There isn’t a better indication of, and I know it’s a team effort and nobody does it alone, but that, to me, that’s some serious s**t. And for me, I got to give respect where respect is due. And Joe is smart, passionate about the business, a multi-generational athlete has respect for his family has respect for the locker room has respect for the business. He’s just a very, very smart performer and somebody I respect. He would be my greatest of all time.”

When Sharpe mentioned The Rock as a possible, Cena said it was a tough choice and Rock could be number two but was going with Reigns.

John Cena Confirms WWE Contract Goes Past In-Ring Retirement

In that same podcast, John Cena also confirmed that he’s signed a deal with WWE that will keep him with the company for many years past his in-ring retirement in 2025.

“I have such a trustworthy relationship with them. Over two decades. I am a champion of the brand. I love the company. It is my home. They are my family. Even after 2025, I’ve already signed an extension to remain a member of the WWE family for the near, mid, and long-term future. I don’t think there will be a beat of my heart where WWE blood doesn’t come out of it.”

John Cena has also confirmed he’ll be on the WWE Raw debut on Netflix on January 6th, which is going to be a big night for the company.
