John Cena Tells WWE Fans What He’s Grateful For

John Cena at WWE Money In The Bank

John Cena has made a statement about his final run in WWE while delivering a special message to his fans.

The WWE Money in the Bank PLE in Toronto had a shocking moment when MITB’s guest host Trish Stratus introduced the former 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena. As usual, Cena got a thunderous ovation from the crowd before he said a word.

When he finally got a chance to speak, John Cena announced that his WWE retirement is coming in 2025. The popular future Hall of Famer didn’t announce a specific date for his retirement match, but Cena did state that the 2025 Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber events will be his last time competing at those shows while adding that WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas will be his last WrestleMania as an active competitor.

Based on what he said in the ring and at the press conference after the show, Cena will likely be wrestling throughout 2025.

John Cena went on Twitter/X to share a message with fans talking about how grateful he is to be invited back into WWE so he can write the last chapter of his career. Cena was responding to a video about his retirement announcement and all the press coverage that it received.

“For over 22 years YOU have allowed me to be a part of many special moments. We have incredible history together from setbacks to triumph and all in between. I’m so grateful to be invited back home so we can write the last chapter of this unforgettable ride. Sunsets are often the most memorable experience. I can’t wait to share this sunset with my family.”

“See you all very soon. The Last Time Is Now!”

Chris Jericho Reacts To John Cena’s Retirement Announcement

A man who knows Cena very well from his time in WWE is former AEW & WWE World Champion Chris Jericho. The 53-year-old Jericho was Cena’s first WWE PPV opponent way back at the Vengeance PPV in July 2022 (Cena won the match) and they wrestled many more times in the years that followed.

In a recent interview, Jericho spoke about Cena’s connection with wrestling fans.

“It’s great. John’s always had a great love for wrestling and he’s got a great connection with the fans so I think it’s a cool way to go about it.”

“People know that this is it and John’s not the type of guy to say anything lightly so I’m sure he’s been focused on this and working with the company to make sure it’s right and I’m sure it’s gonna be a really great year-and-a-half for Cena fans and for John Cena himself.”

Cena, who is 47 years old, is currently staying busy by filming the second season of his Max show called Peacemaker. Fans can check out the first season of Peacemaker on Max now.
